Best ever front page? Telegraph combines royal wedding and the killing of Osama Bin Laden

The Huffington Post is highlighting the Daily Telegraph's weekly world edition for combining the Royal Wedding and the killing of Osama bin Laden for its splash - with one commentator describing it as the "greatest front page ever".

Huff Media says the front page is "An absolutely astonishing melding of the royal wedding and the death of Osama bin Laden. The wedding got bigger play, but the two stories turned the front page into a kind of global symbol for the twin poles of fluff and grit, hard news and soft, that make up today's journalistic world."

It notes that The Atlantic's James Fallows was very direct in his opinion about the page, calling it: "the greatest front page ever" and saying it won't be topped.

Huff Media is running a poll asking readers if the front page is the "best ever". So far those voting "definitely" are just beating those voting "no way".

The Times and Independent dare to be different

The Times has won plenty of plaudits today for daring to be different with its front page wraparound treatment of the royal wedding using a shot of the newlyweds driving off, rather than opting for the traditional kiss on the balcony scene.

The Independent also strived to be different with an original artwork of the royal couple by Tracey Emin but still went for that kiss.

The Mail and Sun opted for the kiss photograph, as did the rest of the nationals.

Royal Wedding Mug: Arise, Sir Steve Bell!

Guardian cartoonist Steve Bell is guaranteed at least a knighthood for his beautifully rendered commemorative royal wedding mug, which carries the illustration above.

You can see the mug being made on a special Guardian video. Guardian readers are being given the opportunity to buy one of the special Bell mugs described as "a true republican collectible".

I guess if the Independent was doing a royal wedding mug it would just be blank.
